After waterproofing membranes are applied, they are allowed to cure before undergoing water-retention tests. The waterproofed area is intentionally filled with water and monitored over an extended period to verify that there is no seepage into the slab or adjacent spaces. Only after the waterproofing system successfully passes this test does flooring installation begin.

Skipping or shortening this process may save a few days during construction, but it can lead to moisture damage years later. Water seepage has the potential to damage paint finishes, ceilings, electrical systems, natural wood, and premium flooring materials. Spending additional time testing waterproofing is considerably easier than repairing concealed leaks after handover.

Before premium finishes are installed, substrates are checked for level differences, surface strength, moisture content, and dimensional accuracy. Even a minor variation in floor levels can affect the alignment of large stone slabs, while excess moisture beneath wooden flooring may eventually lead to movement or warping.

  • Pressure testing of plumbing pipelines before walls and floors are finished.

Walkways need to remain clear for safe movement of workers and materials, while scaffolding, lifting equipment, and temporary electrical installations require regular inspection.

Personal protective equipment, secure working platforms, clearly defined work zones, and regular site supervision allow tradespeople to focus on workmanship rather than unnecessary risk. A safer construction site almost always produces more consistent construction quality.
